Age and education is no bar for learning at Sameeksha School of Embroidery
Embroidery is the art of decorating a fabric with stitches to enrich the beauty. Embroidery is the handicraft of decorating fabric or other materials with needle and thread.
Art is the Stored Honey of Human Soul
Youth is happy because it has the capacity to see beauty. Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.
If you want to read a book you can go to a library, if you want to watch a movie you go to a theatre but if someone wants to learn or practice embroidery as an art there is no such place that exists. Sameeksha was established to fill this vacuum, where people could learn Embroidery as an art form. Embroidery has not been recognised even though it has been practised since the earliest known civilisations.Earlier the art of embroidery was passed onto the next generation by elders in the family. Women were trained at home in various skills required to run home efficiently; of which Embroidery was an important skill. But in today’s context most women prefer to work which has made families to become nuclear. Hence the source of learning is lost and this is where Sameeksha is trying to fill the gap.The various forms of embroidery learnt at Sameeksha could become a Hobby or taken up professionally. We encourage students to complete a project as part of the course. For example, embroider a garment or a furnishing fabric.Sameeksha has been founded by a well-qualified professional, none other than Sujaya Mahesh who has taught at one of the prestigious institutions in Bangalore. She has combined her love and teaching along with her entrepreneurial passion to establish Sameeksha School of Embroidery and Boutique.Age, education and background are no bar for students at Sameeksha. Everyone is welcome. The only criterion is the enthusiasm and positive spirit to learn. The background of students at Sameeksha range from fashion designing students, to middle aged housewives, newly married to software professionals. The Alumni not only consist of Indians but women from all over the world; to name a few countries Europe, Australia, Maldives and Japan.
Age and education is no bar for learning at Sameeksha. Embroidery like any other art form has history, the preamble for each style has a brief historical background. Sameeksha strives to pass on this rich heritage to the next generation.
The art of Embroidery has evolved from the process of sewing. Indians are well known for their magnificent workmanship and have produced the most beautiful textiles and embroidery exhibited in Indian and Western museums.
